Good to know

"The Japandi" is a thoughtfully designed 8x24 tiny house on wheels set directly on the lake inside The Cottages at Pine Lake, a private tiny-home community in a rustic & peaceful setting between Huntsville & Scottsboro, Alabama - very easy to get to (right off the main highway). Warm natural wood, soft neutral colors and simple Japanese-inspired details give the home a calm, uncluttered feel while its large windows connect the interior to the lake just outside. The main floor centers around a queen bed beside a large bay window overlooking the water. Wake up with the lake beyond the glass, relax in bed with a movie on the large TV, or settle into the cream lounge chair with coffee and a good book. Upstairs, a cozy loft offers a twin-size futon mattress and a second large TV - a great 2nd separate cove to relax. As with an authentic tiny-house loft, ceiling clearance is low and the space is reached by stairs. The living and dining area makes clever use of the home's small footprint. A compact dining table expands into a full round table with seating for four, giving you space for breakfast, dinner, games or working remotely. The kitchen is small but well equipped for a comfortable stay, with two electric burners, an apartment-size refrigerator and freezer, microwave, large farmhouse sink, gooseneck faucet, Keurig coffee maker with a variety of K-Cup coffee pods to choose from, a countertop ice cube maker, an electric kettle & air fryer on the shelf underneath, as well as cookware and kitchen essentials. The compact bathroom includes a shower, remote-controlled bidet toilet, a clever small secondary sink above the toilet, and a vanity mirror medicine cabinet above that with provided toiletries. Hot water is supplied by an on-demand gas water heater. WiFi is provided as well as a dumpster for trash. The home has a mini split to keep the home at the right climate conditions with an additional dyson fan in the loft. A space heater is provided for additional heat just in case as well. Faux wooden alarm clocks have USB-A and USB-C outlets as well for your devices. Outside, your private deck with built-in bench and string lights overhead, sits just steps from the lake and provides another place to slow down and enjoy the setting. With a dedicated parking area just steps from the lake, the area is quite rustic with mature trees, landscaped grounds and tiny homes arranged around the water. What makes this stay especially unique is the community around it. The Japandi isn't an isolated tiny cabin placed on a rental lot—it sits within an actual tiny-home community where most neighboring homes are occupied by long-term residents. Only a limited number of homes are offered for short-term stays, creating an opportunity to experience what tiny living can genuinely feel like while enjoying your own private home beside the water. The Japandi is especially well suited for couples, solo travelers and guests considering downsizing or tiny-home living who want a peaceful place to relax and experience life with a little less space—and perhaps a little more intention. Please remember that this is a true tiny house on wheels. Interior clearances, storage areas, stairs and the loft are more compact than those found in a conventional home.

Other Details to Note

PLEASE READ THE FULL LISTING AND HOUSE RULES BEFORE BOOKING. The Japandi is part of a small collection of unique tiny homes created to let guests experience what thoughtful, intentional tiny-house living can actually feel like. This is not simply a place to sleep for the night—it is a carefully furnished home inside a quiet, private tiny-home community, and we ask guests to treat both the home and the community accordingly. Our goal is to provide a peaceful, memorable and genuinely 5-star tiny-home experience. In return, we especially appreciate guests who value cleanliness, quiet surroundings, thoughtful design and respect for the property and neighboring residents. If you're considering downsizing or tiny-house living someday, this is also a wonderful opportunity to "try it on for size." The Japandi gives you a chance to experience an actual tiny house on wheels while staying within a real tiny-home community. The Cottages at Pine Lake is primarily a residential community rather than a vacation resort or campground. Only a limited number of homes are offered for short-term stays. People live here full-time, so maintaining a peaceful atmosphere is very important to us. This property is best suited for couples, solo travelers and quiet guests looking to relax, reconnect, experience tiny living or simply enjoy a slower stay beside the water. It is NOT a good fit for parties, gatherings, groups looking to socialize late into the evening or guests seeking a place where normal residential-community rules will not apply. --- ## IMPORTANT HOUSE RULES **NO parties, events or gatherings.** **NO pets.** Pets are not permitted inside the home, on the deck or as part of the reservation unless specifically approved in writing in advance. **NO smoking or vaping.** Smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes, marijuana or similar products are not permitted inside the tiny home OR within 50 feet of any door, window, deck or other opening. This is a strictly smoke-free home. Guests are responsible for additional cleaning, deodorizing or remediation costs resulting from smoke or vapor exposure. **ONLY REGISTERED GUESTS are permitted on the property unless additional visitors have been approved in advance. Unregistered guests may not stay overnight. **QUIET HOURS are 10 PM–8 AM. Please be especially mindful of outdoor conversations, music, television volume, vehicle noise and other sounds during these hours. **ONE VEHICLE per reservation unless additional parking has been approved & paid for in advance.** Please do not enter neighboring residents' lots, decks, homes or other private areas. Guests are responsible for any damage, missing items, excessive cleaning or misuse of the home, furnishings, appliances or property occurring during their stay. --- ## TINY-HOUSE LIVING The Japandi is a TRUE 8'x24' tiny house on wheels. Part of the experience is living comfortably and intentionally in a much smaller space. Expect narrower clearances, compact storage and smaller rooms than you would find in a conventional house. The main queen bed is conveniently located on the first floor. The additional twin sleeping area is upstairs in a loft with limited headroom and is accessed by stairs. Guests using the loft should be comfortable climbing stairs and moving within a low-clearance sleeping space. The home sits directly beside the lake. Guests should use appropriate caution around the water, especially after dark or during wet weather. Children, if permitted as part of the reservation, must be closely supervised around the lake, deck and loft stairs at all times. --- ## THE COMMUNITY The Japandi is located within The Cottages at Pine Lake, a private tiny-home community. Most neighboring homes are occupied by long-term residents. Please treat the community as you would a quiet residential neighborhood rather than a traditional hotel or vacation complex. Guests are welcome to enjoy designated common areas, but residents' homes, lots, decks and personal property are private. The property and community include exterior security cameras in common areas and around portions of the property for the safety and security of residents, guests and property. There are NO cameras inside the tiny home. --- ## SEPTIC & PLUMBING The home is connected to a septic system. Please flush TOILET PAPER ONLY. Do not flush wipes of any kind—even products labeled "flushable"—feminine products, paper towels, facial tissues or other materials. Please also avoid putting grease, large amounts of food, coffee grounds or other solids down kitchen drains. The bathroom has a shower but no bathtub. Hot water is provided by an on-demand gas water heater. --- ## CLEANING The Japandi is professionally cleaned and prepared between every reservation. Linens and towels are changed and the home is reset for each arriving guest. Please respect the designated checkout time so our cleaning team has enough time to properly prepare the home for the next guest. Early check-in (for a fee) cannot always be accommodated, particularly when another guest is checking out the same day. We do NOT expect guests to spend their vacation deep-cleaning the home. We simply ask that you treat it respectfully, dispose of trash in the dumpster appropriately, leave excessively dirty dishes cleaned and return the home in reasonably tidy condition. --- A tremendous amount of time, care and investment goes into creating and maintaining these tiny homes and The Cottages at Pine Lake. Please treat The Japandi, its furnishings and the surrounding community with the same care you would want someone to give your own home. We love hosting considerate guests and want every person who stays here to enjoy the same beautiful, peaceful experience. If that sounds like the kind of getaway you're looking for, we'd be delighted to host you.
